The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade provides foreign and trade policy advice to the Australian government. They also are responsible for setting sanctions policy and in 2012 took over all responsibility for automatic sanction list maintenance from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) who up until then had maintained their own sanctions list.
